Do I need to do a DNA test? +
Not at all. Most customers start with our scent profile quiz — it takes about 10 minutes and gives us everything we need to create a custom fragrance for you. The DNA analysis is a completely optional upgrade for those who want the deepest level of personalization.
Why do perfumes smell different on everyone? +
Your skin pH, body chemistry, and olfactory receptor genes all shape how fragrance molecules behave on you. A perfume that smells amazing on your friend might smell completely different on your skin — and that's normal. Prana6 creates your formula around your unique chemistry instead of ignoring it.
How does the process work? +
You take a 10-minute scent profile quiz about your lifestyle, preferences, and the scents you love or hate. Then you choose your bottle size. We create a custom formula just for you — no two customers get the same one. If you add the optional DNA analysis, we also factor in how your body perceives specific scent molecules.
How is this different from other custom perfume services? +
Most 'custom' perfumes let you mix from pre-made options — you're basically assembling something off a menu. We actually formulate a unique blend from scratch for you. And if you choose the DNA option, we analyze the specific genes that control how you perceive scent. No other perfume company does this.
How long does shipping take and how much does it cost? +
Your custom fragrance starts at $85 for 15ml and ships in 1–2 weeks. The optional DNA analysis is a one-time $99 add-on — if you choose it, allow about 4 extra weeks for the saliva kit and lab processing. Once your formula is created, reorder anytime at the fragrance price only — no retesting, no extra fees.
What if I don't like my fragrance? +
Because your fragrance is built from your personal scent profile — and optionally your DNA — the match is far more precise than picking a bottle off a shelf. That said, scent is personal. If something feels off, reach out to us. We'll walk you through what you're experiencing and offer guidance. Please note that custom fragrances are made-to-order and are non-refundable.
Can I reorder my fragrance? +
Yes! Once your formula is created, it's saved in our system so you can reorder anytime without repeating the quiz or DNA analysis.
What does the DNA analysis actually do? +
It analyzes a small set of olfactory receptor genes — the receptors that determine how you perceive scent molecules like musk, floral, woody, and fresh notes. The lab does not perform a full genetic analysis. No health data, no ancestry, no identity markers. Just scent perception. The analysis is performed by a licensed third-party laboratory — Prana6 does not run genetic tests or access raw genetic sequences.
Is my DNA data safe? +
Yes — privacy is a core principle. Your sample is labeled with an anonymous code only. The lab analyzes only scent-related markers, then destroys your sample. We never see raw genetic data — we only receive perception ratios. Your data is never sold or shared. You can request full deletion at any time.
Is this a medical or health test? +
No. Prana6 is not medical. It does not provide health information, diagnostics, risk predictions, or any medical claims. We focus only on scent perception markers to create your fragrance.
