1. Information We Collect
Personal Information: When you place an order or create an account, we collect your name, email address, shipping address, and payment information. Payment is processed securely by our third-party payment provider — we do not store your full credit card details.
Scent Profile Data: When you complete our questionnaire, we collect your responses about lifestyle, preferences, and scent memories. This data is used solely to formulate your custom fragrance.
Genetic Data (Optional DNA Analysis): If you choose our optional DNA analysis, we collect a saliva sample via an at-home kit. Here is exactly how that data is handled:
- Your sample is sent to a certified third-party partner laboratory.
- Each sample is labeled with a unique anonymous identifier only — no name, email, or personal information is attached.
- The lab analyzes only a small set of olfactory receptor markers — genes related to scent perception.
- The lab does not perform a full genetic analysis. No health data, ancestry data, or identity markers are examined.
- The lab returns processed receptor signals to Prana6. We translate these into perception ratios — numerical values used in our formulation system.
- We never receive, store, or handle raw genetic data or DNA sequences.
- Your physical saliva sample is destroyed by the lab after processing.
- We retain only the anonymized perception ratios necessary to maintain and reorder your formula.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and fulfill your custom fragrance order
- Process payments and ship your product
- Save your formula for future reorders
- Communicate with you about your order
- Send marketing communications (only with your consent — you can unsubscribe at any time)
- Improve our products and services
We do not use your scent profile data or perception ratios for any purpose other than creating your fragrance.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, license, or share your personal information, scent profile data, or genetic-derived data with any third parties except as strictly necessary to provide our service:
- Partner Laboratory: Receives only your anonymized saliva sample for olfactory receptor analysis. The lab cannot connect your sample to your identity.
- Payment Processors: Process your payment securely. We do not store full payment details.
- Shipping Providers: Receive your name and address to deliver your order.
We will never sell your data to advertisers, data brokers, insurance companies, employers, or any other third party.
4. Data Retention
- Order & account data: Retained as long as your account is active or as needed to fulfill orders and comply with legal obligations.
- Scent profile responses: Retained to maintain your formula for reorders.
- Perception ratios: Retained to maintain your formula. These are anonymized numerical values only.
- Physical saliva sample: Destroyed by the partner lab after processing. Not retained.
- Raw genetic data: Never received or stored by Prana6.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct any inaccurate information
- Delete your account, scent profile, perception ratios, and formula — upon request, we will erase all data associated with your account
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
